My Best Practices
The essence of mathematics is not to make simple things complicated, but to make complicated things simple. -S. Gudder
Teaching mathematics is the most rewarding and satisfying. You can see the young minds unfold to mathematical ideas with curiosity and amazement, experiencing like a magic being revealed to them. The joy of achieving something seen on their faces and remarks “Yes! I did it”, is most rewarding for a teacher.
Throughout my career of teaching mathematics, I have worked with children of age group 8 to 16 years and through the experiences I have undergone, found some practices which work. The best practices which I follow are:
Take them from known to unknown
Raise the curiosity
Challenge them
Let them feel the joy of achievement
Allow them to make mistakes while learning
Give them time to explore
Struggle with them
Appreciate their efforts
Do and Learn
Play and Learn
Teech and Learn
Learn from Friends
Demonstrate what you learnt
